Ok, so I created new topic for this.
We can discuss about the new series there:
http://charmer-yugioh.vampire-legend.net/t880-yu-gi-oh-arc-v#19383

Since this section is for discussing TCG/OCG.

...I'm not sure I understand if this card is even useful. The best thing I can see is now Gadgets can make a +0 Gaia Charger. It doesn't combo with DWs, Super Rejuv is banned (well I guess limited in OCG, but still), and there's no real reason to discard that many cards from your hand outside of those two strategies. Its DEF is pretty nice though Razz

As for having new Korean-exclusive cards, that's cool I guess. Korea is OCG I believe, so I guess they're entitled to having different card pools, like how TCG America and TCG Europe have different releases. The strange thing is, there's only one new card here? That's weird.

I guess so. Though I don't see RUM being all that exciting or competitive of a strategy, but in this format you never know. To each its own I suppose.

When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 WIND Tuner monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target in face-up Defense Position. Its effects are negated. If you activate this effect, you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except WIND monsters. You can only use the effect of "Pirika, Lineage of Gusto" once per turn.
The new gusto effect. This is scary.
She is a E-tele target that can be a 1 car sphreez without using a normal summon. Just scary.
But I have a question if she is special summoned by egul can her effect work durng the damage step?

Doesn't look like there's anything stopping it, so unless I'm mistaken it looks like she just has to deal with the usual "When... You can" problems.

Either way totally putting in at least 2 copies.

EDIT: and I just realized her effect also allows you to special summon Cockaddodledoo for a quick Stardust.

I think I may be sorta combining my PsyGusto and R5Gusto deck ideas for her.

WOWWWWWWWW... this is just crazy! This makes Gustos swarm even more than before, as attacking Egul now leads to searching 2 monsters instead of one! And Wikia says it's a common? Primal Origin, here I come XD

I think any serious Gusto player would be crazy NOT to run this.

Then again, it seems like a lot of the new support for older archetypes in Primal Origin are quite buffed. The new DW monster is kinda OP too, if you use the Ceruli build:
Quote :
If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: Special Summon this card from the Graveyard, then, if it was discarded from your hand to your Graveyard by an opponent's card effect, you can Special Summon 1 Fiend-Type monster from your Deck to either side of the field.

Lol if this happens then I will quit collecting cards irl. I'm still anxious to see which of the Sylvan monsters they're planning to rarity bump (and you know they will, since that's literally the ONLY reason why Lonefire went to 2).

But if that does happen nobody except Gusto players and ghost rare collectors will care about, so it'll end up being incredibly cheap as well.

Exactly what I wanted! I ever talked with Kiri if I would like if Pirika becomes a Junk Synchron for Gusto, and Konami granted my wish via telepathy.

Well it's a good thing this occurred after the TCG banlist was announced... now OCG will have to follow in our footsteps by limiting the adult dragons Rolling Eyes
I'm actually not worried by this card, unlike most exclusives I've seen in the past. Lategame this would be pretty broke though.

Funny idea: could this card be a new staple for a Doriado/Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan deck? You don't usually see those 3 types being supported in the same deck...

Though yeah, the more I think about the sort of crazy plays Pirika will allow, the more it becomes my potential favorite card in recent history.

>E-Tele Pirika
>Pirika effect, revive Gulldo
>Synchro for Sphreez
>Sphreez effect, retrieve Pirika
>normal summon Pirika
>Pirika effect, revive Gulldo

now here you could

a) kamikaze 4-5 monsters essentially to rack up huge damage
b) Totem Bird/Leviair overlay
c) double Sphreez (which then opens up the possibility of rank-6 plays next turn)
d) some other 6-star wind Synchro (see above)

Then there's also the possibility of doing stuff like reviving an Egul for the second summon. Then going Falcos to have a 2600 ATK Sphreez, or even Cockadoodledoo to Synchro for Stardust for extra protection.

Though this is just going with an initially empty field. Having monsters out already just opens up so many possibilities I don't think I could even begin to list them all.

Pirika for best E-Tele target 2014, and I feel sorry for anyone that still doesn't have the card but plays Gustos.

Oh derp, knew I was forgetting something.

Still though, just being able to grab Pirika again is a nice bonus. Infinite Sphreez Works, etc etc.

But on that note, I REALLY wish Konami had even the slightest hint of consistency with their "once per _____" effects. Like it makes sense here (in THEORY.... in practice it shouldn't have it because "lol balance in Yu-Gi-Oh!"), but half the time I feel like they're just drawing lots out of a hat to determine or something. Where you have both ones where that restriction doesn't necessarily do much of anything aside from make them just marginally less stupid (DRulers say hi), or doesn't have the restriction but very clearly should (Gem-Knight Fusion seems like a pretty clear-cut example here).

Here's something I've been thinking of just now however. With Pirika utilizing the graveyard so much, obviously the overall strategy of the Gusto deck will change. But do you think it may stop relying on so many cards that fatten the deck like Contact/Blessings/Quill Pen/even Caam?

I mean Sphreez is better than Gulldos, so this may mean Gulldos may even not be needed anymore too.

Also, we still don't know if the penguin Gusto is gonna be made. If/when it is, though, it may also use similar tactics (since obviously the Daigusto will be comboed with Pirika), like maybe sending itself to the graveyard or something to be revived. Do you think this may mean Gustos get the GK/DW/Harpie treatment? (by which I mean, change strategies to be more meta-relevant and thus actually become a popular meta deck) Ya may have to rethink that Ghost rare theory if that were the case Wink

No, it won't. Pirika just offers a more offensive tactics for Gusto (though she can also be used defensively too, such as when your opponent attacks an Egul and you ran out of Wynnda, just summon Pirika and get Gulldo from Grave to continue the recruiter loop). The overall deck playstyle won't change, except maybe if you play hybrids.

Hippocampus wrote:

Contact/Blessings/Quill Pen aren't that mandatory in Gustos, but Caam is absolutely needed. You need at least Caam to get your recruiters back into your deck (not to mention she gives you plus too), so you'll never ran out of them, because that's just how the deck plays. If you ran out of recruiters, it's not good since your opponent will just attack your Gustos and they will just destroyed meaninglessly. Though if you play some hybrid Gustos, you probably won't mind running out of recruiters in your deck.

Hippocampus wrote:

You still need Gulldos. Gulldos recycles your recruiters and pops out a monster. It's a good card to remove a threat from opponent's field. You can't just rely on just Sphreez. There'll be always a time when you need Gulldos to deal with something.

Literally the only thing Pirika does to change the core deck fundamentally is make it actually worth it to run multiple copies of Sphreez in the extra deck now, in addition to Falcos and Totem Bird also being even more viable options than they were before.

Also, this card isn't going to break Gustos or push them to any sort of actually relevant meta status overnight. Come back when we get a few more cards as useful as this, and/or some Gusto card that can actually help to trigger Griffin's effect, instead of forcing us to rely on weird hit-or-miss hybrid builds.

ps yes I feel sorry for you

Well my point was that if you run a Pirika-centric build, you technically don't need to put the Tuners back into your deck, since you can just revive them from the graveyard with her effect whenever you need them. And because basically summoning Pirika is an instant Synchro/Xyz, you don't really need to worry about having your weak Gustos destroyed by battle since they more than likely won't be on the field by your opponent's turn. And I do love the cards above I mentioned, especially Caam, and will continue to run them myself, but I just kinda feel that Konami is pushing a change of strategy by making Pirika's effect, similar to how DWs changed with Grapha/Snoww/Gates, Harpies changed with Channeller/Pet Dragon Xyz, Six Sams changed with Shi En/Kagemusha/Asceticism, etc.

Eria wrote:

I know we still need Gulldos now. But with Pirika, it's better to go into Sphreez or Falcos since there's no Lv2 Tuner as part of the recruiter loop, and with single cards like Contact or Quill Pen, both of which have a stronger effect since they can target any card your opponent controls, Gulldos may be becoming obsolete, or at least underused. Of course, you're right in that this heavily depends on the deck whether it has hybrid elements or not.

Hence why I mentioned the penguin... you never know if it could be something OP or not...http://charmer-yugioh.vampire-legend.net/t888-gusto-penguin-beta-card

Let me tell you about how basing an entire deck off of relying on a single card is typically a terrible idea and will usually only serve to get your dick punched in faster. Especially when said single card relies on getting its summon done to be able to actually do anything. Also, you literally only need at most 3 Gusto cards (1 tuner of each different level) in the grave as-is for the full amount of available options. Pulling something like having every Gulldo in the grave intentionally just sounds laughably dumb.

By the way, DW/Six Sam playstyles really didn't change all that much. They just got better things for them is all. Harpies changed, but when your initial playstyle is basically nothing any single card so long as it wasn't another vanilla or a "Harpie Lady #4" would've changed them in some way.

Winda is part of the Recruiter loop and should still be run, Gulldo+Winda make Gulldos, therefore Gulldos is still worth it to run.

Of Pirikas clearly.

If you want to use Pirika's effect, all you need is just a single Tuner in grave, and Gulldo is the best one. The rest of the Tuners can be recycled back to the deck.

Also, what's Pirika-centric build? If a Gusto deck using 3 Pirika + 3 E-Tele, does it changes the deck's state into "Pirika-centric" build?

If you summon Sphreez, you need your recruiter anyway. Sphreez alone on the field won't do anything. The recruiter loop is the core of the deck, and it's good to have at least 1 recruiter on the field, so when your main extra deck monster like Sphreez destroyed by your opponent, you still can defend yourself with the recruiters.

No, Gulldos will still be as playable as it is, as we have Wynnda. And Gulldos is easy to make using her and Gulldo.

And Contact and Quill Pen are both Spell Cards, while they can target any card on the field, they're not as searchable as Gulldos (which is toolboxable via extra deck) when you need to destroy a threat. Contact can be recycled by Sphreez, but grabbing Pirika back to hand in most time is better than just grabbing Contact back.

With Pirika we get extra option to summon monster that's normally harder to summon from extra deck. Doesn't mean Gulldos will be underplayed, since we not only play Gustos with Pirika.
